As a happening town all months of the year, Ocean City is full of holiday celebrations, unbeatable restaurant deals and lots of excitement! So much happens, that we decided to break it down and give you a need-to-know overview for the upcoming months in town.
The farther in advance you plan your vacation, the better--no matter what month of the year! Take a look at some of the most popular events and festivities going on in town, and see what fits you and your family and friends best!
MLK Weekend With schools off on Monday, it’s the perfect chance for a weekend getaway to escape the work world and spend a relaxing, refreshing few days on the shore (a cold beach is better than no beach). If you stay in town on Monday, Ocean Downs Casino will be doing an MLK special giveaway, randomly selecting players to receive $500 slot dollars from 3 pm to 7 pm every hour on the 15th! If you’re sitting next to a winner at the Casino, you’re also in luck! Winners’ closest neighbors to both the left and right each get $250 slot dollars!
Super Bowl Weekend If the Pittsburgh Steelers make it to the Super Bowl, the hottest spot in town will be Buxy’s Salty Dog Saloon, the well-known Steelers bar, transitioning from a local’s favorite to the prime football location that night. Ocean City takes sitting on the couch with beer and buffalo chicken dip to the next level. Many bars in town will be showing the game, and almost anywhere you go will be filled with enthusiastic fans. Before the game starts, Eagle’s Landing Golf Course will be doing a Superbowl Sunday Scramble from 9 am to 1 pm. Make a team consisting of a Coach, Quarterback, Running Back and Wide Receiver, and play with a unique scoring format. Tailgate Brunch Party starts at 9 am, and kickoff is at 10 am! Entry fee is $60/player, including green fees, cart, and tailgate party, plus “Throw the Bomb” on the third hole and Melanie’s Blitz Soup served at half-time.
FeBREWary Do you love beer? Then February should be your favorite month! Febewary is best known as Maryland’s month-long celebration of craft beer. On February 24th from noon to 4 pm, Seacrets is partnering with Shore Craft Beer to bring the third annual Beer Fest: Love on Tap to town. General Admission is $35, VIP ticket is $50, and if you are the Designated Driver, tickets are only $10. Tickets include unlimited tastings, live entertainment, conversations with Shore Craft Brewers and a pint glass. VIP tickets include all this, plus an extended hour at the festival and a T-shirt.
OC Film Festival March 9th through to the 11th, the Art League of Ocean City will be hosting its second annual Film Festival, featuring and showcasing the amazing works of both regional and global filmmakers and artists. If you love the art of film, this may be the perfect excuse to spend a weekend in town!
St. Patrick’s Day Good luck, good food, great beer and an exciting parade will flood Ocean City this year on March 17th! As the town turns green, and everyone pretends to be a little more Irish than they really are, Coastal Highway will fill with floats, local celebrities and exciting features for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade beginning at 12 pm. This is one of our larger holidays, so break out everything green that you own, watch the parade and honor the Irish heritage at local bars and restaurants in town! Eagle’s Landing Golf Course is also offering a St. Patrick’s Day Scramble.
Easter Along with restaurant specials and delicious buffet dinners, Easter Weekend brings a Kids Fun Fair and Arts & Craft Show to the Convention Center. If in town, you can go to the Easter Sunrise Service at 6 am on N. Division St. and the Boardwalk, sponsored by Ocean City Christian Ministers Association. There’s no better way to start the beautiful holiday morning than watching the sunrise on the beach.
Spring Restaurant Week During the Fall, restaurants and local businesses participated in the town’s restaurant week, offering fixed-price menus and various dining options. If you missed this special week, or loved it and want more, spend some time in town from April 15th to the 29th for Ocean City’s ultimate culinary experience.
Springfest Enjoy the cool, refreshing temperatures before the summer heat sets in! Springfest will take place May 3rd-6th at the Inlet, with tasty foods, arts & crafts, live music, and entertainment to celebrate the beautiful Springtime and kick off the excitement for the upcoming Summer season! Tickets for headliner shows are on sale at the Ocean City Convention Center Box Office on 40th St., but general admission to Springfest is free!
Amongst all of these holiday celebrations and town attractions, there are some quiet times in town. But once Memorial Day comes, so do beach-lovers and Ocean City enthusiasts of all kinds!
We encourage you to spend some of these off-season holidays with us, and experience the thrills that come with the parades and festivals, although, we know it’s not for everyone!
Have a favorite restaurant in town? Check and see if they are doing any special events throughout the winter and spring months here. Fager’s Island has events each month, including a BluesBake 2018 (Jan. 13th), Oyster Garden V (Feb. 17th), BrewGrass 2018 (March 24th) and Island Wine Fest 2018 (April 21st). Tickets are $49 for each event, including a variety of amazing food, drinks, and entertainment.
Maybe you enjoy the crowds and a busy, popular town, or maybe you enjoy Ocean City’s slower times of the year when tourism seems to be put on hold. Maybe you enjoy both? We sure do. And we know one thing for sure: warm weather and sunny beaches from May to September can be irresistible, so start planning and book your summer vacation now!
